Activity Deepens Overseas Chinese Students' Understanding of Xi
ByChen Xiao and Liu Xiaoxiao January 27, 2024The Social Liaison, Exchanges and Cooperation Center of the All-China Women's Federation (Women's Foreign Language Publications of China) and Jinan University organized a book-recitation activity, especially for overseas Chinese students, in 2023.
Within two months, 120 students of the university, all overseas Chinese from more than 20 countries, read and studied the book detailing the interactions between Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people during Xi's domestic-inspection tours.
Thirteen individuals or groups of students were selected to give book-recitation performances at the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University (in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province) in November 2023. The students recited the book, in fluent Chinese — and with emotion.
Some of the performers shared their understanding of the book, and their feelings about attending the activity.
The activity was organized to help overseas Chinese students deepen their understanding of Xi's love for the country, and for the people. The activity was also intended to cultivate goodwill ambassadors, who will tell the stories of China and Chinese families, and who will promote Chinese culture to the world.
The ACWF Social Liaison, Exchanges and Cooperation Center presented dozens of copies of the book to Jinan University. About 200 people watched the book-recitation performance.
Lidyana from Indonesia:
It was an unforgettable experience for me to attend this activity. By reading the book, I learned several touching stories about President Xi, and I learned more about China.
Yu Jiaqi from Tanzania:
From the stories in the book, I felt President Xi's sincere care for the people. He conducted inspection tours around China, and he showed he cares about the lives of the people of all ethnic groups. He is a good president.
Cheng Jingyi from Egypt:
From the chapter about President Xi's visit to a Tibetan family … I could feel how excited and happy the people were when Xi met them during his inspection tours. The book reflects that a leader who loves the people is admired by the people.
Chep Yi Kai from Malaysia:
The activity helped us realize President Xi is a head of State who always thinks about the people, and it helped us learn more about hard-working Chinese. I hope I will gain a deeper understanding of China in the future.
Guo Chenyu from South Africa:
I'm happy that I did a good job during the activity. I learned from the book that President Xi is close to the people, and he takes serving the people as his mission. I will do my part to promote China's development.
Xie Zhu Lenin Xavier from Ecuador, Ormsin Siriwimon from Thailand, and Jesse Gloria from Indonesia:
We are happy to take part in the activity. We learned President Xi has paid attention to people's well-being, to the smallest detail, and the people admire and respect him. The stories are really touching! We hope we can participate in activities like this again.
